I Chose Mussomeli, Sicily as the Location for My Dream Home

In the previous post I told you the region I selected, Sicily. Here is how I came to choose the town of Mussomeli.I was scrolling through TikTok one day and on my For You page popped up a woman talking about her recent home purchase in Sicily. Obviously, I then stalked her page for every ounce of information I could get on her experience. Next was researching her town of Mussomeli. The revitalization they are doing in the town and large expat community was a big attraction.Mussomeli is one of the Italian locations participating in the 1 Euro home program. My nephew and I had exchanged text about Mussomeli a few years ago when we saw 1 Euro houses on the news. I had forgotten the name but as soon as I began researching Mussomeli it clicked in my head. At the time I thought the 1 Euro program was interesting. But after putting in time, effort and money to make it livable I might as well buy one already in good condition. I left it at that, thinking the timing wasn't right.I considered beach towns too. Beach towns are amazing of course. Would they offer the strong community I am looking for? They may be too much of a tourist area for me. The 1 Euro program continues to attract expats from all over. Having like minded people is a definite drawn. They share the excitement, confusion and frustration of moving to another country.Mussomeli is in the center of the island and at a higher elevation. Located in the province of Caltanissetta. It isn’t stifling hot in summers like the beach towns. I will absolutely visit the beaches and share those trips with you. The temperature break in the mountains, while still in a comfortable climate, is appealing.What is next? Time to go to Italy!! It was a trip of highs and lows, which I will share in my next post.
