Welcome to The Amateurs Abroad: Life, Travel & Everything in Between

We definitely did not have all of this planned.

The Amateurs Abroad started with two sisters traveling together and sharing what happened along the way. Somewhere in the middle of all that traveling, my life took a pretty major turn — I moved to Sicily, bought a very old house, got married and started building a life here.

Lisa still joins me for about six weeks each summer, which is when The Amateurs Abroad becomes a two-sister adventure again. We travel, explore, eat, laugh, occasionally get lost and usually come home with more stories than we expected.

But this blog isn't just about travel.

This is where I'll share the rest of the story too — renovating our old Sicilian home, everyday life in Italy, the things I'm creating in my studio, building the Stone Palace Post mail club, places we visit both in Sicily and beyond, and probably a few projects that seemed like a good idea when I started them.

Some posts will be useful. Some will be travel guides. Some will simply be stories about what happened that week.

We're still amateurs. That's kind of the point.
